New laptop adjustments are great once they are implemented and up and running. Since the screen on my old laptop decided to give up the ghost I had only two choices. One, get the “old” one fixed and wait for something else to break down. Or two, buy a “new” one and go through the whole transfer process of accounts, apps, and password updates. Yikes! I am writing this to let you know that I chose option number two. My new laptop, adjustments and all, was a much needed upgrade. With the purchase of my new laptop I reflected on some recent life adjustments as well.
It has been a hot minute since I have blogged or put out anything new on my website. Though I still have been writing, but in a more formal and printable approach. I wrote and independently published two books through Amazon KDP during my blog furlough. (I will put the link below to both because I can’t wait to share them!) My old trusted laptop held up till that point, thankfully, even though it occasionally overheated on me. Formatting on it was a bear to be honest and another reason why I opted for a new laptop.
Life Adjustments
However, I missed blogging. Several Reconfiguring With Grace readers reminded me that they also have missed my posts and Fur Baby Friday blogs. It was time to get back to my blogging. Blogging is a less formal style of writing that is much more enjoyable and relaxing to me. I don’t get stressed trying to make a boat load of paragraphs, book cover dimensions, or chapter headers all line up “just so.” The glitches in formatting have been removed now much to my delight. That will make future book formatting much easier. My new laptop makes such a wonderful companion to my writing endeavors in each capacity.
Upgrading my laptop and making these adjustments make me feel like I have begun to take my writing and being an author more seriously. What started out as an interesting hobby has turned into a platform to share my faith, trials, and joys. I know that God put this desire in my heart a long time ago. Even as a young girl, I wanted to write and illustrate books. I spent countless hours cutting and stapling paper into book pages to write short stories on. I’d draw characters and scenery to support the short story and then read it to everyone. Life happened and that dream was placed on the back burner for many years. I chose to revisit becoming an author now that I no longer carry many of those life responsibilities. My new laptop is a critical tool in helping me achieve said goal and making my dream a reality.
New Isn’t Always Good, Nor Does It Last Forever
I am not a fan of Artificial Intelligence, AI for short. I am old school when it comes to that, human mistakes and all. Auto-correct is auto-INcorrect more times than I like to have to correct when I didn’t ask for the input to begin with. Particularly so, when Auto-correct decides to change the whole meaning of the word that I chose and that did not compute to it’s politically correct way of thinking. Auto-correct makes me Auto(matically)-angry, well, at least, very frustrated. I do, however, truly appreciate an upgrade in hardware, especially when the old hardware starts wearing out, such as a new laptop to adjust to. Everything has an expiration date, even laptops.
The newness of everything eventually wears off. That will apply to my “new” at this moment laptop with all it’s wonderful bells and whistles. Even becoming a newly published author will eventually wear off, but that is a story for another time and another season. For now, I choose to give thanks to God for allowing both, new laptops and new publishing opportunities, to occur in my lifetime. I thank God for the talent and ability to write, to enjoy, and share my thoughts with others. I give thanks for the opportunities to connect to and maybe even bless another with some knowledge that I have gained through a overcoming a life struggle. It is my hope to return the gift back to Him for His glory. Amen~ Be blessed sweet Sisters!
