Another Lousy Round Of Covid 19

Another lousy round of Covid 19 is upon us. While there has been several short and mild versions of the original Covid 19 since it began, the latest one my family has encountered is pretty severe. Covid 19 is still considered a pandemic even after being around for five years. Because we had not had any sort of Covid for over two years, when the illness hit our home we didn’t even consider Covid a possibility. How wrong we were! Another lousy round of severe Covid 19 was here.

My youngest son contracted it from work. His biggest complaint was sinus infection symptoms and sore throat pain. He somewhat quarantined in his room but was frequently coming out into the general areas to get something from the fridge, stop for a minute to converse in the den, or put a plate and cup in the sink. Otherwise he stayed in his room. The days preceding the severe symptoms I had given him a hug. The incubation period for this version seems to be longer than usual. It was almost two weeks before I started feeling any symptoms.

The latest Covid 19 version that is rapidly spreading in the U. S. right now is quite contagious. While I do not foresee businesses or churches closing and wearing masks, it would be prudent to revisit Covid 19 protocol. When Covid 19 hits, it is often sudden and severe in it’s onset. For that reason it’d be a good idea to prepare by stocking up on the most basic and needed items. I put a link to my Covid 19 survival blog post at the end of this article. This has a list of our most helpful items while dealing with this illness.

I was just going about my day, making plans for the upcoming Friday. Covid 19 decided to reroute my schedule for the next two weeks. Sudden uncontrollable chills, fever, major body aches, with some serious sinus pain was the hello. This wonderful introduction had me moving out of my bedroom and into our guest bedroom. I was totally miserable! All my symptoms decided to recognize my age and overstay their non existent welcome. My son overcame his Covid quicker than I did. Even though I did quarantine, my oldest daughter, her mother-in-law, and now my husband are currently in the throes of Covid. I still have shortness of breath, low energy, and some dizziness probably due to the fluid build up in my ears.

So, just a heads up. Covid 19 is still around. Another lousy version is playing out right now. It is very contagious and can be severe and lengthy. It would be wise to have a few things on hand in your pantry and medicine cabinet to help you get through it. While my youngest son did not have to have any medical intervention, that wasn’t the case for the rest of us. Revisit the covid protocol and realize that overall this is a respiratory illness and should be treated as such. A trip to the doctor or ER might be needed to avoid pneumonia. There is no cure for Covid 19. It will continue to be around like the flu and the common cold. My best advice is to prepare for the worst and hope for the best. Be blessed!
