Can you believe that Christmas is less than a week away? Where did December go? Are you wrapping (no pun intended) up loose ends? Do you still need a few more gifts or a special something for a hard-to-buy person? Well… I got you covered! Give them the best Christmas gift EVER!
Now, your curiosity has been peaked. You may be asking, “What IS the best gift EVER?” The best gift EVER is a gift everyone needs and can use, regardless of age, gender, or budget. It is a heart-felt and life-transforming gift. I am talking about the gift of forgiveness. Everyone needs forgiveness. If you ever hurt anyone or have ever had your feelings hurt, been betrayed, or rejected (and tell me who hasn’t) then you can give the best gift EVER. You have it to give and it isn’t too late to consider this gift. Make the choice to give the best gift EVER this Christmas!
The Best Gift EVER Is A Choice
Giving the best gift EVER, forgiveness, is a choice. A choice to let go of being righteously angry, bitter, prideful, or revengeful to allow forgiveness and peace back into that heart space. Forgiving is a command, not a suggestion, from our heavenly Father for a reason. Forgiveness releases us from the bondage of pain caused by the offense. Forgiving doesn’t ever justify the offense or the person who committed it. Holding onto the pain and bitterness of the offense(s) only robs us of our peace and joy. Chances are, the perpetrator has already moved on, not thinking twice about his/her action towards you. By choosing to forgive, you are gifting yourself peace. Wouldn’t you like a little more peace and joy in your life? Choose to give the best gift EVER this Christmas!
“For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.” Matthew 6:14-15 (KJV)
The Best Gift EVER Is Eye Opening
The best Christmas gift EVER, forgiveness, is eye-opening. Forgiving someone is a chance to see everything from a new perspective without the initial emotional drama. We can look back at how we could have changed our response, if the reason for the offense was really worth all the drama it created, or even if fluctuating hormones were to blame. We can look back at the offender for a chance to see them differently, in the light of grace. We would want that for ourselves. Truly, Christmas is celebrated because Christ was born for the whole world of us to have redemptive forgiveness through His atoning sacrifice for all our sins. Mine, yours, theirs… the WHOLE world’s sin load! God gave us the best gift EVER. And we should be generous in giving the best gift EVER, forgiveness, to others! Now that is an eye-opening revelation!
“And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins.” Matthew 1:21 (KJV)
The Best Gift Ever Even For Ourselves
Maybe YOU need the best gift EVER more than anyone else this year. Maybe you need to forgive yourself for making the worst mistake of your life. Maybe that mistake is stealing your peace because you can’t forgive yourself. Forgiveness can’t be earned or bought but it can be given and received. It is time to put your transgression in the past. Start by confessing it to God in prayer. Believe His Word that He forgives you. Ask God to help you learn from whatever it was and to bring glory to Him and healing to you and everyone who was involved. Then, let it go and BELIEVE! Not in Santa, but in God’s Word. Allow God’s truth and your obedience to His Word to bring healing, peace, and joy back into your Christmas, back into your life, and back into the lives of all those affected. BELIEVE, in the best gift EVER, Christ’s redemptive gift of forgiveness this Christmas!
“This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.” I Timothy 1:13-15 (KJV)
Conclusion To The Matter
Forgiveness is never easy. It begins with a choice. That choice involves forgiving others and ourselves. That choice requires us to see things from a different perspective, the lens of grace and forgiveness we ourselves and others need. Forgiveness frees our hearts to move forward though it doesn’t always mean reconciliation. Unforgiveness is a spiritual sin. The root of unforgiveness is unbelief. Disbelief that we can be forgiven or the other person should be forgiven. Don’t believe that lie. God’s Word says otherwise. BELIEVE God’s truth in the matter. Make the choice to give the best gift EVER. Give the gift of forgiveness this year! Peace to you all my sisters! Amen!
He is the true meaning of Christmas!
Without Christ, there would be no Christmas. We would have no forgiveness. We wouldn’t know how to forgive others. Peace and joy would not exist. What a dismal, dark place it is without Jesus. Amen~
Beautiful message. Thank you.
