- Start With A Prayer. God’s word tells us to owe no man except to love him. Pray for wisdom, self-control, and financial unity with your spouse. When we are in obedience to His word He will bless us.
- Tithe. Tithing often is a struggle with our self wills to do. God’s word is pretty clear on it. When we tithe God will open up the storehouses of heaven for us. God’s economy is not man’s economy. He blesses obedience in all areas and that includes finances.
- Plan nutritional meals. Don’t waste your money on junk food or sugary drinks and treats. Plan a weekly menu, write a shopping list from it, and stick to it.
- Eat leftovers. Minimize what you waste by throwing it out in the trash.
- Do not rent. Renting pays off someone else’s investment. It is money given to someone else. Thirty years of renting leaves you in the same homeless position as day one. Thirty years of paying for your own home and it becomes your’s rent-free.
- Take lunch and coffee to work from home. This saves over time. Eat out less!
- Consolidate car errands to lessen the amount of gas needed and miles put on your vehicle.
- Do not buy clothing or shoes unless necessary. Wear what you have. Trends only last for a season and then become outdated. Be frugal when an item needs to be replaced.
- Cut out cable. Watch less TV. Read more instead. The Bible is an excellent choice.
- Sell items that are not being used and are still in good condition. Put the money directly into your savings account.
- Learn a useful skill or increase your knowledge in the field you are employed for future advancement.
- Get out of debt! Pay attention to the amount of interest and fees being charged in addition to the amount you borrowed. That is what you pay someone else because you lacked the self-control to save in the first place.
