It’s NEVER too late to chase your dreams! If you have hit the middle aged category and have a dream to chase then get yourself up and go for it! Don’t let that dream float up and away like a helium balloon whose string slipped out of your hand. Getting older doesn’t mean you have to stop living or dreaming. Don’t let those undeveloped dreams slip away. It’s NEVER to late to chase that dream!
Obstacles
Life is full of obstacles. Too many obstacles to count and they are different for everyone. Health can be one of the biggest obstacles to overcome. Failing health presents many hurdles to jump in order to achieve a dream. Adult responsibilities has numerous restrictions that are not present when a youth. Insufficient finances can seem an insurmountable mountain to achieving your dreams. Lack of confidence or proper training may create difficulties in accomplishing that goal. Notwithstanding all these legitimate obstacles, keep on keeping on. However, don’t let life’s obstacles derail your dream from becoming a reality. Nothing ventured is always going to be nothing gained.
Fortitude
Fortitude comes in a variety of forms to aid us in overcoming the obstacles not only to chase that dream but to catch the dream as well. Let’s start with attitude. We have to develop the “I think I can. I know I can,” attitude of the storybook locomotive. The locomotive’s brave self talk encouraged the impossible task to its completion up the impossibly steep mountain. We cannot allow excuses to prevent us from doing what we “perceive” to be impossible. Fortitude starts by believing it IS possible to accomplish. Have faith in God. With him “ALL” things are possible. Being stubborn is a useful trait when refusing to give up on a goal to accomplish our dreams. Fortitude is simply having the backbone to attempt your dream and the true grit to persevere with determination and not give up until the dream has been achieved.
Success
Success is often defined once the goal has been met and the dream has happened. What is overlooked is all the hard work and failures that preceded the victory. Sir James Dyson failed over five thousand times before finally succeeding with his billion dollar vacuum cleaner. Thomas Edison was not the brightest bulb in the class according to his teachers but his perseverance paid off and changed the world. I am thankful that he didn’t listen to the negative assessments those teachers deemed him to be. Edison’s name is still known. Does anyone remember the name of those criticizing teachers? Albert Einstein was a late bloomer whom many thought to be mentally handicapped, however, Einstein’s theories in physics were completely mind blowing. All three of these (more if you care to do the research) had the moxie to succeed by enduring. They never gave up. Success just took time.
A Good Ending
Achieving your life long dream is always a good ending. Don’t let the obstacles in the beginning and middle be stumbling blocks to failure but stepping stones to success. It doesn’t matter what your age, race, gender, or financial situation is. Nor does it matter what other people have said or are saying about you that counts. Wayne Gretzky, whom some consider the greatest hockey player in the NHL, accurately stated, “You’ll always miss 100 percent of the shots you don’t take.” Don’t listen to the critics in your life. Take a shot at your dream! Maybe even a few more shots. Practice makes perfect and soon you will hit the mark and achieve your dream. It is never too late to chase a dream! A good ending begins with a dream, a prayer, courage, and fortitude. Your success is just around the corner! Don’t give up! It’s never to late to chase your dream!
