7 Keys To Starting Your Day Out Right!

I am not typically a morning person. I have however learned these simple 7 keys to help start my day out on the right foot. These key elements were developed to encourage gentle ways to wake up fully and begin the day productively in spite of my natural tendency. I had to admit and own my weakness. It’s who I am. Unfortunately, I did not outgrow the tendency and become a sunshiny morning person. I have however, learned winning strategies to cope and overcome that fault line with grace. Instead of having crummy regretful mornings every day of my life, I now use these 7 keys to launch into a better foundational start. You can start your day out right too using these 7 keys to better mornings.

Admit It! You Will Never Be A Morning Person!

Before I was willing to admit that I wasn’t a morning person my days started off in total chaos. That was even before having children that depended on me to get them up and prepared for their day. The strife and level of unpreparedness that was common place multiplied my morning grievances. It didn’t matter how many hours of sleep I got. Mornings remained a wreck in my life until I finally admitted that I will NEVER be one of those brilliantly sunny people in the morning. Once I admitted my fault in the equation I could start finding coping skills to make morning life easier for me and those around me. So do yourself a favor and just own it! You are NOT a morning person. Now let’s get on with it!

Your Excuses Will No Longer Work~

Part of admitting and overcoming your self defeating tendencies is to no longer buy into your excuses. Repeat after me: “My excuses are no longer valid.” Yes, the bed feels so warm and cozy. Get yourself a warm cozy bathrobe with slippers. Oh, you have a headache or maybe body aches, that time of the month, allergies, a cold, etc, etc, etc. Grab two aspirin with your cup of joe and let’s go! I understand the dread of a big project needing completion but it is not going to get done with you laying in the bed. Get up sleepy head! Don’t spend another day dreading getting out of the bed! Just do it! Your excuses will no longer work!

Remedies To Your Morning Woes~

These 7 keys were the remedies to my morning woes. I need every one of them on most mornings. I also need to give each key time to take effect before really taking on my day full force. No interaction before my first cup of coffee remains a blessing to me. That little space of quiet time will be the biggest aid in navigating your bad morning too. Trust me!

The Best 7 Morning Keys EVER!

  • SAY A PRAYER OF THANKS for your salvation, health, family, spouse, home, job, the sunshine, the rain and whatever else comes to your mind as you lay in bed. You get the point! Before your feet even touch the ground make it a point to be grateful and thank God for what you have.
  • TELL ALEXA TO PLAY PRAISE MUSIC to remind you that you are not doing this day alone in your own strength and wisdom. There is a loving God in heaven who is with you no matter what the day will hold.
  • HYDRATE with water. Waking up with a dry mouth is a great incentive for keeping water by your bedside. I make it a point to drink deeply of my water thermos upon waking, right after my prayer of thanks. That water thermos keeps water cool all night. It is so refreshing. I am still in bed at this point but believe me I will be dashing to the bathroom in a sprint in just a few! 😉
  • KEEP PROTEIN BARS BY YOUR WATER THERMOS to combat low sugar levels commonly experienced in the morning. Bypassing breakfast was a defective choice that did nothing to strengthen me or help me feel well the better half of the morning. It is the best 200 calories that you will consume the whole day!
  • READ THE BIBLE and meditate on the scriptures. Pray specifically for the day’s schedule and situations that you are already aware of. Feeding your physical being is important but feeding your spiritual being is of greater importance. It is the strength and wisdom you will need for everything that will happen in your day.
  • DRINK A CUP OF COFFEE OR TEA as you read the Bible and pray. I am usually ready to take on everyone else’s morning woes at this point. The hubby, dogs, kids, housework, and any projects can now take a number. I am ready to prioritize and get moving. Who or what is first on the list?
  • SHOWER to fully wake up, make up and dress. I am now ready to go public. Exterior situations can now be added successfully to the day’s agenda.
  • HEAD OUTSIDE to water flower and vegetable gardens and let the dogs do their business. Breathe in some fresh air before the day truly is a go. Nature is the best way to fully wake.
