One day I said a prayer that went something like this, “God if you are real, then show me that you are real. My life is a mess. I need to know.” What is amazing about this simple prayer is that it totally changed my life. I honestly wanted to know if God existed. Is there a way to connect to the God that I had heard so many caring and wonderful things about. The truth is that you need to find out for yourself if God is real as well. Start by saying a sincere prayer like mine to find out if God is real.
Head Knowledge
“And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.”

Head knowledge of something or someone is like book knowledge without the experience. This knowledge is like reading about a brownie but never tasting one. The facts are presented. You may agree or even doubt that knowledge but the information is received. There is a scholastic awareness concerning the matter. Preliminary opinions are also formed to this information that will determine any further interest to inspire future investigation. Are you curious enough to search out the truth of the matter of your head knowledge and let it become heart knowledge? What will you miss out on if you never find out what a brownie tastes like? Or that God IS real?
Heart Knowledge
“A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.”

Heart knowledge is when the head knowledge becomes personal in your life. That first taste of brownie has you bought in for life! It is like hearing about about how awesome a certain person is then finally meeting them and falling madly in love with them. Deep bonds are formed when you have heart knowledge of someone. It is like the difference of your child to you and the neighbor’s child down the street. You know of their child but you have a heart connection to your own child. The strong desire to know EVERYTHING about God is born out of heart knowledge. Heart knowledge is the fuel to catapult God’s word into action in your life. Passions are born when you act on heart knowledge.
A Changed Life
Saying a simple prayer to encounter God will change your life. True wisdom comes from God alone. Absolute truth in every matter is found in His Word to us. Forgiveness of sins and eternal life are only found through His son Jesus. There is our humanistic way of doing things. Then there is God’s way of doing things. God can turn around even the worst of our mistakes and put our feet on the right path in life. God did this for me. A changed life can build others up in truth instead of selfishly destroying those around us. There is peace and hope in a life changed by a heart knowledge encounter with God.

Final Verdict
The fact of the matter is that every single one of us need heart knowledge to know that God is real. We need to find out how to connect with Him. We need to draw near and learn about who He is and what that means to us. No appointment is necessary, no fee required. Say a simple prayer at any hour of the the day or night wherever you are. God doesn’t keep business hours. All you need is a sincere desire to know if God is real. Don’t you really want to know? Wouldn’t you like to meet God, get to know Him, and have His input in your life? My simple prayer changed my head knowledge into heart knowledge.
