Every morning I awake to this precious face perched on the side of my bed. Sniffing heavily, she’s looking intently into my face for any signs of life. Pepper makes her rounds checking each of us to make sure that we are okay. She is such a mama dog! I love her for that! I groggily put my hand out to pet her head. Sometimes I am awake enough to pet her and tell her Good Morning back in that raspy first spoken word of the day. She doesn’t mind my morning breath. Patiently, she waits until I climb out of the bed and stumble towards the bathroom. A trek that we both need to make although her’s is not as convenient. A situation that I know all too well.
Same Speed
We move at about the same speed these days. Pepper is an old girl like me. Both of us start out a little slower in the mornings than we used to. Neither of us likes to go out in rainy or chilly weather first thing in the morning but we both do out of necessity. I try to get a cup of coffee or tea in before I make the journey to the backyard accommodations. I also have to let the wolf-dog out of his crate. He is snoring there as we speak. We are a sight going out. Once that epic trip has been accomplished then we are free to move around the cabin of our day a little less urgently.
The End Of The Day
The end of our day is almost the same, only in reverse. And instead of Pepper resting her head on my bed looking for signs of life to begin she curls up right there by my bed knowing that the day is done. We both are settling down for the night. Pepper is so protective of us. She is so loyal and loving. Our Pepper Girl is the best way to be woken up and tucked in for the night as any Mama knows. At ten o’clock at night, she knows where her babes are. I guarantee it! God has truly blessed us with Pepper. He has blessed you with your fur baby too! Have a great weekend and enjoy your fur babies Sisters!
